Dowis, Zamora and Tonight’s Games

Former Air Force star quarterback Dee Dowis, 48, has perished in a car accident near Atlanta.
Downs was an option quarterback for Falcons’ coach Fisher DeBerry, finishing 6th in the 1989 Heisman Trophy voting.
During that season he ran for 1,296 yards and passed for 1,285 yards. He accounted for 25 touchdowns, including 18 in the air.
In 2009 he was inducted
into the Air Force athletic Hall of Fame.

Baylor sophomore receiver Ishmael Zamora will be suspended for the first three games of this season because he beat his dog with a belt over the summer. The animal abuse was captured on video.
Zamora has apologized for taking his frustrations out on his dog.
He will perform 40 hours of community service designed to teach him kindness and respect toward animals. He will also undergo counseling and place the dog in a home that is friendly toward animals.
