**  Syracuse beat Gonzaga last night to advance to the Elite Eight in this year’s NCAA basketball tournament.

**  New Georgia coach Kirby Smart, on Jim Harbaugh taking Michigan to Florida for spring practice over spring break:  “I think in due time the NCAA will have to step in.”

**  Former Alabama fullback Kevin Turner has died of Lou Gehrig’s disease at the age of 46.  Turner played on Alabama’s national championship team (13-0, coach Gene Stallings) in 1992 and went on to an NFL career.
**  Turner’s son Nolan, 18, is going to Clemson to play for Dabo Swinney, who was a teammate of Turner’s at ‘Bama.
